It’s been quite a few weeks! Last week Julie and I got back from spending 10 days in the Holy Land with Dr. Gary Chapman, his wife Karolyn, and 43 others (mostly from our church.) It was a life changing experience for us! Seeing places like Mt. Carmel, Joppa, the Sea of Galilee, Qumran, Masada, the Dead Sea, and Jerusalem have forever changed how I read and reflect on the Scriptures. It was quite an experience.
And so was yesterday. Yesterday marked a new beginning for our church. We opened the doors to our second campus, Calvary West. Launching a new campus was new to us and we weren’t real sure what to expect and we were all blown away. Almost 600 people showed up! We had an incredible time of worship and fellowship both before and after the service.
It was really exciting to see all the people who came from 10 to 10:45 for our open house. Our Bible Fellowship teachers (under the leadership of Rush Hylton, Matt Capps, Eric Barbour, Karen Malek, Dawn Christian, and Ryan Showalter) did a great job of welcoming people and telling them our passion for seeing people come to a faith that is personal, growing, and serving. I was also blown away by our Hospitality teams who were led by Matt Capps and Danny Menser. From the parking lot attendants, to greeters, to coffee servers and ushers…they did an amazing job. Lee Chewning and his worship team led us to worship and exalt Christ, and I can’t say enough about our technical teams (Mike and Stephen Apple, Gordon Crump, Special Events Services, etc.)…they were simply amazing. Here are a few pictures from our first service.
It is such a privilege serving at a church that is passionate about the Gospel and seeing people walk intimately with Christ. I consider myself a lucky man!
