I have the privilege of sharing Thanksgiving with Julie’s family who are all staying with us. There are 19 people staying under one roof and honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way. They are such a blessing and joy to be with and I am truly thankful for them today.
But, I am most grateful today for the sacrifice of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Over the last few weeks I have been reading a biography of Jonathan Edwards that was put together by John Piper and Justin Taylor. In the very first chapter Piper wrote these words:
“…the power of sin is in the promise of pleasure, and is meant to be defeated by the superior promise of pleasure in God…”
I am thankful today that God has made it possible to know Him and be known by Him. And I am eternally thankful that the pleasure we experience in God is far greater than any pleasure the world might offer.
