Reflections on Calvary West

It’s been a little over 2 1/2 years since we launched Calvary West.  It’s been quite a ride and the journey has been quite memorable.  As I look back and contemplate where we started and where we are now, I’m humbled by God’s faithfulness and more convinced than ever that great days lie ahead for this community of believers.

I’m also convinced that we must keep our vision and core values before us and allow them to govern our ministry priorities.  During this 2 1/2 year period we’ve identified ‘3 pillars’ of ministry we believe must be done with excellence.

Pillar #1 Corporate Worship: Our desire, above all, is to magnify Jesus Christ who brought us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.  I’m grateful for the team of people that God allows me to work with who are unbelievably talented, visionary, and passionate about creating an environment where people encounter the gospel in all we do.  I pray this will be a place where the gospel is faithfully proclaimed and that broken people find healing and rest in Jesus Christ.

Pillar#2 Bible Fellowship: We realize that community can’t and won’t be built exclusively through corporate worship.  There must be environments where people are able to open up their lives with one another and be encouraged in their walk with Christ.  We have been unbelievably blessed with leaders committed to faithfully teach the Scriptures and build community both on Sunday mornings and throughout the week in homes.  Click here to see a listing of classes.

Pillar #3 CORE: CORE classes are designed to ground and grow our people in the gospel and its implications for doctrine, devotion, duty, and delight. Our goal for CORE Ministry Training is to train and equip every person for fruitful personal ministry in the context of the church body and in the world.  These take place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Click here for more details.

God is faithfully building this community and I’m thankful to be a part of what God is doing.  Let’s keep our eyes fixed upon Christ, faithfully make much of Him, and passionately seek to further His kingdom.
